the Berkeley Studio's Bikram Yoga Challenge!
Starting
March 17th we invite all Bikram students to participate in
the 2008 Bikram Yoga Challenge. Improve your practice and
challenge yourself by taking 30 classes in 30 days or 60
classes in 60 days.
The Bikram challenge is first and foremost a personal challenge,
but if you wish you can help us fundraise for the Oakland
Childrens Hospital and Research Foundation! Participants
can collect pledges and donations from friends and family to
support them in their Yoga challenge and the amazing work being
done at this Foundation.

Funky
Door Yoga Polk Street and Funky Door Yoga Haight will
begin their annual Yoga Challenge on May 1st.
This year all proceeds will stay in our ‘hood and go to
the Larkin Street Youth Services!
Larkin
Street Youth Services offers a broad continuum of services
especially designed to meet the needs of homeless, marginally-housed,
and at-risk youth ages 12 – 24, and help them make
a permanent transition from street life to independence.
Programs include street outreach, emergency shelter, transitional
living and permanent housing, case management, medical
care, specialty care and housing for HIV+ youth, mental
health and substance abuse services, and education and
employment programs.
Larkin Street serves homeless and runaway youth, ages 12 – 24,
who are on the streets of San Francisco, often through no fault
of their own. Homeless and runaway youth represent diverse
racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds.
In 2005-06, Larkin Street served 2,212 youth through its onsite
programs, and made thousands of contacts with youth on the
streets through the agency’s Street Outreach program.
In total, 640 youth accessed their residential programs (emergency,
transitional or permanent housing); 1,416 youth accessed drop-in
services at the Drop-In Center or Haight Street Referral Center;
and 634 youth enrolled in education or employment training
programs at HIRE UP.
